Milan eyeing Essien move

AC Milan are considering a loan move for Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, according to the Express.

The 31 year old has been used on the fringes of Jose Mourinho’s side since returning to Stamford Bridge from a season long loan with Real Madrid, where he was also playing under the Special One.

The Ghana international’s agent has already stated that his player could be transferred during the winter, and Milan are the first major side to be linked.

Essien was not names in the Blues’ list of players for European competition, so could feature in the Champions League for another side.

He has started just five games this season, only two of which have come in the Premier League.

Internationally, the former Lyon man will be keen to be contention for Ghana’s squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil last summer, having played every minute of their 2006 campaign in Germany.
