AC Milan have had a 10-million-euro bid offer for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal rejected, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.
Milan chief Adriano Galliani had earlier claimed the Serie A champions were uninterested in the Chile international, who has been the subject of interest from clubs including Bayern Munich, Napoli and Juventus.
But Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has now broadcast Milan’s transfer plans for all to see, warning the Italian club they would have to up their offer if they want to land the skilled midfielder.
“We are keen to hold on to Arturo, but we could cash in on him if a big money offer from abroad comes in. AC Milan’s 10m euro offer is not high enough for us, though,” Voller told German newspaper Bild.
Leverkusen have already knocked back an offer close to 10 million euro from Bayern, despite Arturo requesting the deal be pushed through.
In that instance, however, Leverkusen’s reluctance to deal with domestic rivals may have scuttled the bid and not the amount being offered.
Milan are keen to bolster their midfield in the wake of Andrea Pirlo’s free transfer to Juventus, and have reportedly also targeted Standard Liege’s Axel Witsel and Riccardo Montolivo of Fiorentina in the transfer window.
