La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan have opened talks to sign Sampdoria forward Simone Zaza.
The 21-year-old has largely impressed while on loan at Ascoli, and in turn caught the eye of some of Italy’s top clubs.
With the player’s contract at Marassi set to expire in June 2014, he could be available at a cut-price fee in the summer transfer window.
Sampdoria chiefs are desperate to keep hold of their prized asset and are attempting to persuade the player into signing a new deal, but other interested clubs are also making their moves.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have contacted Zaza’s agent Christian Maifredi with a view of making a summer bid for the talented forward.
Simone Zaza, who has scored 18 goals in 30 Serie B matches for Ascoli, is expected to arrive at San Siro if at least one of Robinho and Bojan Krkic leave the club in the summer transfer window.
