Milan launch assault on Alessandro Matri; Inter linked to Palermo star

Milan launch assault on Alessandro Matri

AC Milan have turned their attention to Juventus forward Alessandro Matri, Tuttosport has revealed.

The Rossoneri desperately need to sign a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and they have been linked with Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Robin van Persie and Leandro Damiao.

However, Tuttosport claims that Milan chiefs decided to switch their focus to Juventus forward Alessandro Matri, who looks a more realistic option.

The 27-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements in Turin and the Rossoneri would have no problems bringing him back to San Siro.

It was at Milan that the talented forward started his career and having worked with current boss Max Allegri at Cagliari, he does look like a perfect choice at the moment.

Matri did fairly well during his time at Juventus, having scored 19 goals in 47 Serie A games for the Bianconeri.

His excellent work rate and an eye for goal would make the experienced forward a great addition to the squad now that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no longer at San Siro.

Inter linked to Palermo star

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter have made a check on Palermo striker Abel Hernandez.

The Neroazzurri officials have admitted defeat in their chase for Mattia Destro, who looks set to join Roma, and are currently pursuing other targets.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Inter are seriously thinking about Palermo forward Abel Hernandez.

The Italian giants are looking to sign a striker who would be a back-up to Diego Milito and they believe the Uruguayan fits the bill perfectly.

The 21-year-old already has three full Serie A seasons behind him and boasts a pretty good scoring record considering he was mostly used as a substitute.

Numerous injuries prevented Hernandez from reaching full potential, but nobody doubts he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

The Uruguayan international has scored 16 goals in 69 Serie A games for Palermo, while scoring 4 goals in as many Europa League games.

Roma sign Greek midfielder

Roma have announced on their official website that they have signed midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis from Genoa.

The Italian giants have paid €2.5 million for 50% stake in the player who has yet to get a taste of Serie A football.

The 21-year-old began his career at AEK Athens and spent three years there before joining Genoa in April 2010.

The midfielder hasn’t played a single game for the Rossoblu but he largely impressed during his loan spell at Chievo last season, scoring 3 goals in 39 Serie B games.

The Greek Under-21 international is unlikely to challenge for a starting berth this season and could again be farmed out on loan to gain some first team experience.

Tachtsidis is Roma’s fourth signing this summer, after Dodo, Michael Bradley and Leandro Castan.
