Milan lost both Trofeo TIM games to Inter and Juventus, but Leonardo says this is his team and he just needs time. Pre-season has been disastrous for the new Coach, who has failed to win a single major friendly this summer. Last night they were defeated 2-0 by Juve and 1-0 to Inter in 45-minute games at the Stadio Adriatico in Pescara, despite Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s debut.

“It has been a difficult period of training,” confessed Leonardo, whose Serie A debut against Siena is next week. “There were some problems in the game with Juve and we struggled to finish off chances, but we have to wait a little longer before we can truly evaluate our potential.” The club has been criticised for failing to bolster its squad, bringing in just Huntelaar, Oguchi Onyewu and Flavio Roma since selling Kaka to Real Madrid. “This is my squad’s basic structure. There are little things to sort out, yes, but even if there are some new arrivals then this will remain the team.”
