Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport understands that AC Milan will make one final attempt to persuade midfielder Nigel de Jong to extend his deal at San Siro.
While Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien will be allowed to leave when their contracts expire in June, the Rossoneri are eager to keep hold of the Netherlands international.
But, even if the two parties started negotiations over a new contract back in August, no progress has been made just yet.
While Nigel de Jong wants a three-year contract worth €3 million per campaign, Milan are not backing down from their offer of a two-year deal worth €2 million per season.
Nevertheless, seeing as everybody at the club has been impressed with the midfielder’s performances and behaviour, it is believed that vice-president Adriano Galliani will improve his offer when he returns from Madrid.
Nigel de Jong, 30, joined the Rossoneri from Manchester City three years ago and has since scored 6 goals in 73 Serie A matches.
