Italian giants AC Milan have now publicly ruled out the possibility of a move for current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, according to the Evening Standard.
As of this summer Milan are under new ownership and manager Vincenzo Montella was given free reign to splash out over £150m to get the club back to challenging Europe’s elite. However after seven Serie A games Milan find themselves seventh in the table and Montella is already under pressure.
Even this early in the season Antonio Conte, who is reportedly growing unhappy at Chelsea, has been heavily linked with a move to Milan. However the Italian club’s director of football Massimiliano Mirabelli recently put an end to these rumours when he announced: “We already have a manager and we are not thinking of Conte nor about other managers.”
If Milan don’t experience a good level of success this season, which presumably means qualifying for the Champions League at the very least, Montella’s position may not be as tenable as it currently is. However it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte would be in the Milan board’s minds should that situation arise.
