Milan are on the verge of completing a deal to sign promising keeper Gabriel from Cruzeiro, the Brazilian club have confirmed.
The Rossoneri reached an agreement with the youngster few weeks ago, and it appears they are now set to wrap up the deal.
The 19-year-old arrives to San Siro to be team’s third keeper, behind Christian Abbiati and Marco Amelia.
Cruzeiro general director Alexandre Mattos has confirmed the deal is set to be completed.
“Since October, Gabriel was able to leave Cruzeiro on a free transfer. But we were competent enough to still get some money,” Mattos told Observatorio de Esporte.
“What I can say is that from July, Gabriel will be a Milan player. Until then he will train with us and be at our disposal.
“Cruzeiro and Milan will soon reach an agreement regarding the minor economic details of Gabriel’s transfer.”
The youngster will initially take up a non-EU spot at San Siro, but he is expected to get a Portuguese passport in the coming weeks, which could be of the reasons for the delay of the transfer.
Gabriel came through the youth ranks at Cruzeiro and while he was promoted to the senior squad in 2010, he hasn’t made a single appearance for the Os Celestes.
The youngster is currently considered a first choice keeper in Brazil Under-20 squad.
