La Stampa understands that AC Milan officials have began search for a new goalkeeper to replace Christian Abbiati.
The veteran keeper has produced some excellent showings this season, but also had several costly blunders, which are likely to cost him a place in the side.
With Abbiati’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, there is every chance the 35-year-old will be allowed to move on next summer.
La Stampa suggests that Milan officials have already identified Genoa youngster Mattia Perin and Atalanta star Andrea Consigli as possible replacements.
These are both young keepers who have already proved their worth in Serie A, and are, therefore, seen as long-term replacements for Abbiati.
Mattia Perin is currently on loan at Pescara, where he has largely impressed in 12 league appearances this season.
Andrea Consigli is more experienced of the two, having already started 135 matches in Italy’s top flight.
