Milan step up interest in Real Madrid midfielder

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that AC Milan are stepping up their efforts to sign Spanish midfielder Asier Illarramendi from Real Madrid.

The Rossoneri chiefs have been less than impressed with the comments of Marco van Ginkel’s agent, with the Dutch starlet likely to return to Chelsea in the near future.

With that in mind, AC Milan plan to make a move on long-term target Asier Illarramendi, who has largely struggled for playing time at Santiago Bernabeu.

Given that Sami Khedira has returned into action, Carlo Ancelotti will probably consider letting the Spaniard leave in January, especially with his former club Milan leading the chase.

Asier Illarramendi hasn’t quite managed to prove his worth at Real Madrid, although he did well to amass 36 league appearances since arriving from Real Sociedad last summer.

Having won all four Champions League fixtures this season, los Blancos are available at 3/1 to defend the coveted trophy.
