Italian giants AC Milan are stepping up their efforts to sign Axel Witsel and Alessio Romagnoli, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Rossoneri have an agreement in place with the Belgian midfielder, but they have yet to persuade his employers to sell.
While Zenit are holding out for €30 million, AC Milan do not seem prepared to offer more than €20 million.
At the same time, they are trying to secure the signature of AS Roma starlet Alessio Romagnoli, having submitted an €18 million proposal few days ago.
Nevertheless, the Giallorossi do not believe that the offer is good enough, meaning the AC Milan will have to delve deep into their pockets if they want to land their top targets.
The Rossoneri have already made some very good deals this summer, having recruited the likes of Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano and Andrea Bertolacci, but they are determined to add few more quality footballers to their ranks.
