(GSM) – The Daily Mail suggests Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is a £15m target for AC Milan. The paper reckons the Blues’ Serb defender, who has established himself as a key figure at Stamford Bridge, may be offloaded if Chelsea manage to sign Inter Milan’s Maicon.
Maicon is among the best right-backs in the world and a secondary role at the Bridge may tempt Ivanovic to move to San Siro to play first-team football.
Milan have been interested in Ivanovic for a long while, having tried to sign the player from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008. Milan also offered £10m for the 26-year-old last year as the Serb warmed the benches during Avram Grant’s short reign as Chelsea manager.
However, the player turned into a key member of the Chelsea squad this season and a host of clubs, including Aston Villa and Manchester City, have sounded out their interest.
Ancelotti is reportedly keen to extend the player’s contract as he tries to keep hold of his prized assets.
