(GSM) – Milan striker Marco Borriello has given his baccking to under-fire coach Leonardo.

The Brazilian coach has been linked with an exit from the Rossoneri but Borriello hopes his coach will stay at the San Siro.

Borriello also has his thoughts focused on making the Italian national team for next month’s World Cup.

“I hope that Leonardo remains,” the 27-year-old revealed to TMW. “These are matters that the society needs to discuss.

“We all want him to stay, particularly me because he has given me lots of confidence. Should things change, it will be up to the society.

“The season has practically finished, and we are pleased to have qualified for the Champions League, even if we are bitter about not keeping up with Inter in the Scudetto race.

“It is also hard living in Milan and not seeing Inter fans with their scarves, but they have fully deserved what they have achieved this season.

“Now, my thoughts turn to the national team. I am aiming to go to South Africa. Beating people such as [Roma captain Francesco] Totti to a position on the team is always satisfying, even if Francesco has had a fantastic season and deserves to also be going,” he concluded.
