Milan to enter Boateng race

AC Milan are set to enter the race for the signature of Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich, according to Sky’s Italian branch.

The Rossoneri are close to completing a deal for Simon Kjaer, currently on loan at Atalanta from Sevilla, but head coach Stefano Pioli is apparently keen on adding another centre-back to his ranks aside from the Denmark international.

Boateng wants to leave the Allianz Arena and has been heavily linked with Arsenal. The Gunners have already made contact with the Bundesliga champions to ask questions about their fee demands, the wages he currently earns and the possibility of a loan deal. Bayern are reportedly willing to let the 31-year-old go for €15 million.

However, they could still change their minds when it comes to this transfer window, with Lucas Hernandez return from injury now set to be later than initially expected – they simply don’t have too many options at the back.
