Mediaset understands that AC Milan are showing interest in Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao.
The Nerazzurri boss Clarence Seedorf has asked the club chiefs to try and sign a quality left-sided defender by the time January transfer window closes.
As a result, Adriano Galliani contacted his close friend Carlo Ancelotti to enquire about Portuguese defender Fabio Coentrao.
However, the problem is that the Real Madrid boss is not prepared to let the player leave in January even though he continues to play second fiddle to Marcelo.
Ancelotti wants to have two quality left-backs at his disposal and is, therefore, determined to keep hold of Coentrao.
The player himself would be interested in leaving his current employers having featured in just 4 La Liga fixtures this term, especially with the 2014 World Cup on the horizon.
Coentrao, 25, has said on numerous occasions that he is unhappy by the treatment at Santiago Bernabeu and he was on the verge of joining Manchester United in the summer.
