Competition: Championship
Market: Millwall win
Odds: 11/8 @ 888sport
Knowing only three points can realistically keep alive their fading play-off ambitions, Millwall will make the trip to an empty KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, with it appearing that their 2-1 win against Middlesbrough last week was just a minor bounce, Hull once again find themselves sat in the bottom-three with time ticking away. Putting in another worrying display and hit with a 2-1 defeat away at a managerless Bristol City in midweek, the Tigers have been hit with back-to-back defeats and have just a sole win to their name since the start of January. Sat one-point adrift of finding a route out of the drop zone, Head Coach Grant McCann has been vocal about his side’s worrying issues at the KCOM throughout the season. Aside from their late victory against Boro earlier in the month, Hull have failed to remarkably win any of their other eight previous Championship contests on home soil. Collecting just 24 points at the KCOM this year and with no team in the second-tier holding a worse home record, Hull could be in for another tough test this weekend.
As for the visitors, while a worrying 2-0 defeat against relegation scrappers Middlesbrough in midweek might have brought an end to Millwall’s play-off dreams, the Lions have continued to shine away from the Den. Including picking up local bragging rights thanks to a late 1-0 win against Charlton last week, Gary Rowett’s side have collected seven points over their last three Championship matchups outside the capital, with that run highlighted by a stunning 3-0 romp against play-off contenders Nottingham Forest prior to the enforced break. Even more impressive, the away day specialists have lost just a pair of their last 13 second-tier appearances on the road, a run that stems all the way back to November 2nd. Losing just one of their last six meetings against Saturday’s hosts, Millwall should be confident of making a return to winning ways this weekend.
