Millwall 4/5 to beat Barnsley in Saturday’s Championship contest

Competition: Championship

Market: Millwall win

Odds: 4/5 @ Bet 365

Handed the chance to potentially finish the weekend in the play-off spots, Millwall will welcome Barnsley to South London on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, making yet another statement and picking up a 1-0 win away at Derby last weekend, few across the Championship would have expected Millwall’s resurge under Gary Rowett. Also shinning in their 2-1 win away at Bristol City earlier in the month, the South London outfit are in the midst of a seven-match unbeaten run that stems all the way back to the 2nd of November. Skyrocketing away from the drop zone and knowing that another victory on Saturday could see them break into the top-six, the mood around the Den only continues to soar. Also losing just a single matchup on home soil since opening the new campaign, Millwall should be confident of making it three wins on the bounce this weekend.

As for the visitors, after picking up a crucial victory over QPR in what was an eight-goal thriller last weekend, Barnsley have made some much-needed improvements since brining in Gerhard Struber. However, still sat at the foot of the table and chasing down a four-point deficit, the Reds are still dealing with some rather glaring issues at the back. Along with losing each of their last four matches on the road and shipping at least a pair of goals in those defeats, it should also be noted that when they faced off against Millwall during the 2017/2018 campaign, Barnsley suffered back-to-back defeats. While the guests might be enjoying their brightest run so far, we’re backing them to come up short against a revitalized Millwall outfit.
