Former FIFA agent Josep Maria Minguella has called for a quick resolution to Pep Guardiola’s contract renewal talks with Barcelona.
Guardiola, 41, was once again coy on his Camp Nou future in Saturday’s pre-match press conference, saying he was grateful the club’s fans and hierarchy wanted him to stay at the helm of the club.
Barca have continuously stated they want Guardiola to remain in charge for years to come, but the coach himself is unwilling to commit for more than a season at a time.
“The club’s fans do not deserve this situation,” Minguella told 8TV.
“I feel sorry for all of Guardiola’s fans, I am one of them.”
“I would like to urge the president (Sandro Rosell) to act as such and say that Guardiola is the coach, that he is happy and that he expects him to renew quickly.”
Guardiola has helped Barca to win 13 titles, including three La Liga crowns and two Champions League trophies, since taking over the club’s first team in 2008.
