Miroslav Klose to trigger contract extension

Italian media outlet La Repubblica is reporting that German striker Miroslav Klose will see his contract at Stadio Olimpico extended for another year.

The veteran forward currently has a deal until the end of the season and he was widely expected to quit the Biancocelesti in search of regular playing time.

But, La Repubblica has learned that a clause in his current contract states that a one-year extension will be automatically triggered if the 36-year-old features in at least 20 matches this season.

Klose has already made 18 Serie A appearances this term and with first choice striker Filip Djordjevic out injured, there are no doubts he will soon trigger said clause.

The highly rated forward has scored 5 goals in 7 league starts this term, while making another 11 substitute appearances, and he will have a chance to further improve his record when Lazio host Genoa tonight, with home win paying 4/7.
