Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has added fuel to speculation linking him with a summer switch to Benfica.
The latest reports suggest that the Eagles plan to lure the talented striker to Estadio da Luz this summer, and they are already in advanced talks with Anderlecht.
And it looks as though there is no need to persuade the player himself as he appears keen on joining Benfica at the earliest opportunity.
“It is one of the largest European clubs and a dream for any player,” the 20-year-old confessed to A Bola. “I hope to join Benfica, I will be very happy and proud to do so.”
With quite a few of his international teammates representing the Eagles over the past few years, Mitrovic was also able to get inside information on the Portuguese giants.
“Yes, I spoke to (Ljubomir) Fejsa, (Lazar) Markovic and (Filip) Djuricic about Benfica. Everyone has spoken to me about the greatness of the club.”
Despite his fragile age, Mitrovic already has plenty of experience at club and international level, having so far made 122 league appearances for Teleoptik, Partizan and Anderlecht, scoring 56 goals in the process.
The youngster is currently Serbia’s starting forward, although he has only managed one goal in thirteen outings for the national team.
