US midfielder Bobby Convey, who spent the past four seasons with English side Reading, signed Tuesday with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer.
Convey, 25, netted eight goals in 112 appearances with Reading and played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premiership for the first time in history in 2006.
“It is rare to be able to acquire a US international in the prime of his career,” San Jose general manager John Doyle said.
“When he became available we jumped at the opportunity to add him to our team. He is a great attacking player who will make an immediate impact, and our fans will enjoy watching him.”
Convey has one goal in 46 caps with the US national team.
