Joe Gyau’s brilliant goal halved the deficit for Cincinnati in the 66th minute, but Inter Miami held on despite Andres Reyes’ red card.
Philadelphia won the first trophy in their history, securing the Supporters’ Shield thanks to a 2-0 win over New England Revolution.
Sergio Santos and Cory Burke scored either side of half-time for the Union, who finished three points clear of Toronto atop the Eastern Conference.
