(GSM) – Los Angeles Galaxy suffered their second defeat in three Major League Soccer Games, losing 1-0 to San Jose Earthquakes while Columbus Crew beat Colorado Rapids 3-1 to successfully defend their conference lead.
In the Western Conference, Los Angeles failed to impress in an away match to San Jose, who scored what turned out to be the only goal through Chris Wondolowski after just four minutes.
San Jose jump to fourth place in the Western Conference and appear to be on course for a spot in the play-offs at the end of the regular season.
Columbus Crew had no difficulty defending their advantage in the Eastern Conference. Against Colorado, Guillermo Schelotto opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the sixth minute but the visitors did level through Pablo Mastroeni right after the break.
The Crew reacted seven minutes later as Jason Garey restored his side’s lead, and Steven Lenhart added a third with ten minutes to go, 3-1.
New York RB, second in the Eastern Conference, convinced with a 1-4 victory at Toronto with goals from Rafael Marquez, Joseph Nane, Juan Pablo Angel and Carl Robinson. Toronto’s only goal came from Dwayne De Rosario.
