The New England Revolution played out a 0-0 draw at home to 10-man Toronto FC in the MLS on Wednesday.
The Revolution had the best opportunities to open the scoring in front of their Gillette Stadium fans in Massachusetts, but Toronto’s Swiss goalkeeper Stefan Frei was on hand to deny the hosts on each occasion.
New England midfielder Shalrie Joseph had two gilt-edged chances to put his side ahead early in the second half, but Frei was able to keep his sheet clean.
Toronto substitute Gianluca Zavarise was sent off in the 90th minute, after he racked up two yellow cards four minutes apart, but the Canadian outfit held on to earn their third consecutive draw in the American top flight.
The point was New England’s first in five matches, and they also picked up their first clean sheet in six.
Toronto moves into sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference on 15 points, while New England are one point in arrears in eighth spot.
