Real Salt Lake climbed to fourth place in the MLS Western Conference on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Philadelphia Union at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The home side took the lead after 18 minutes through a goal from Kyle Beckerman and the midfielder turned provider eight minutes later, setting up Chris Schuler to make it 2-0.
Philadelphia responded with a goal from French midfielder Sebastien Le Toux on the half-hour mark, but that was where the scoreline stayed.
The Union have now gone six games without a win and they missed the chance to move into second place on the Eastern Conference table.
Real Salt Lake meet the Seattle Sounders away on Saturday in their next match, while Philadelphia host New England on Wednesday.
