The Vancouver Whitecaps have broken a six-game winless run in MLS with an entertaining 4-2 victory over the Chicago Fire on Sunday.
Forward Eric Hassli netted a brace and had a penalty saved for the struggling Whitecaps at Empire Field, who sit bottom of the Western Conference with just three wins.
Hassli opened the scoring inside a minute with a powerful 20-yard strike into the top corner.
But Chicago’s Ghanaian forward Dominic Oduro levelled midway through the first half with a fine individual effort, before countryman Gershon Koffie put the Whitecaps back ahead a minute later.
Chicago goalkeeper Sean Johnson then produced a strong save from the spot to deny Hassli, only for Brazilian striker Camilo Sanvezzo to give the Whitecaps a two-goal buffer before Hassli poked home his second.
Israeli forward Orr Barouch scored an 80th-minute consolation for the Fire, who have not won in eight games and are bottom of the Eastern Conference.
