The Los Angeles Galaxy extended their lead atop the MLS Western Conference after a come-from-behind 3-1 win over FC Dallas on Saturday.

Determined to bounce back from their 3-0 loss to Portland during the week, the Galaxy got off to the worst possible start in front of their fans at the Home Depot Center, going behind after just nine minutes thanks to a goal from Dallas midfielder Marvin Chavez.

The hosts were level 13 minutes before the break though, with Omar Gonzalez heading home a loose ball in the box after a David Beckham free-kick had caused confusion among the Dallas defence.

Brazilian Juninho put the Galaxy ahead on 62 minutes when his pinpoint shot found the back of the net via the goalpost, and Mike Magee finished off the victory with nine minutes remaining when he connected with another dangerous Beckham free-kick to notch a third goal for the hosts.

The win moves the Galaxy to 48 points, six clear of Dallas in the Western Conference.

The Seattle Sounders moved within a point of Dallas after they scored two goals in injury time to pull off a stunning 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City.

Sporting looked like they would extend their 14 match unbeaten streak when Kei Kamara put them ahead after 20 minutes, but when Omar Bravo received a straight red card just before the hour mark, Seattle were back in the contest.

With time ticking away it seemed like Sporting would hold on for the win, before injury time goals to Mauro Rosales and Lamar Neagle stunned the home crowd and gave the Sounders all three points.

The Philadelphia Union missed the chance to reclaim top spot in the Eastern Conference after they could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Houston.

The Union led after 15 minutes thanks to a Jack McInerney strike, but a late goal from Geoff Cameron ensured the Dynamo took a share of the points and leaves Philadelphia one point behind the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference.

Elsewhere, the New York Red Bulls are now five games without a win after being humbled 3-0 by Real Salt Lake.

Chivas USA held off a late fight-back from the New England Revolution to secure a 3-2 win in Boston, while a hat-trick from Dwayne De Rosario earned DC United a 3-3 draw with Toronto.

The Portland Timbers extended San Jose’s winless streak to 10 matches after they played out a 1-1 draw.
