Mirror Football are today reporting that Real Madrid will not go above £27 million to bring their big transfer target Luka Modric to the Bernabeu.
It has been suggested that Tottenham want £35 million for their playmaker, which has put a bit of uncertainty in his future.
It is clear that Spurs will let Modric go, but only for the right price and Real are not willing to meet their valuation of the Croatian.
President of the La Liga side Florentino Perez insists that they will not budge though. He said: “The limit for the Modric deal is 35m Euros. We will not pay any more than that for him.”
Modric does seem to want out of White Hart Lane though, expressing his desire to play in the Champions League and win trophies.
If Jose Mourinho’s side do now withdraw their interest, it could spark clubs around Europe to make a move for the Spurs’ man.
The midfielder is certainly an extremely good player who would add talent to any squad in the game. It may come down to who has the biggest wallet.
If Mourinho is desperate to sign him though, he will have to convince the hierarchy at Real to up their bid for Modric.
This is a story to keep an eye on.
