Luka Modrić will not be leaving Real Madrid this summer, according to Marca.
The 33-year-old Croatia international has been linked with a number of clubs. Most recently (and most notably), his name was mentioned as a potential makeweight in a deal that would pave the way for Neymar to make the switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Real, with the Spanish giants prepared to throw another €120 million on top of him for the Brazilian star. It was reported that Real president Florentino Perez was growing increasingly confident that the deal would be done, but now it appears that even if it does, Modrić will not be a part of it.
The story had picked up pace after Modrić missed a friendly against Red Bull Salzburg a few days ago, but later it was revealed that his absence was merely due to injury.
The Spanish outlet claim that they’ve been told by the player’s representatives that there is no chance of him leaving the Santiago Bernabeu before this transfer window is closed.
