Kean took his first football steps at the academy of Torino, and joined their city rivals still at youth level. After entering the senior squad at the club, he was sent to Hellas Verona on loan, and in the summer of 2019, Everton paid a reported sum of €27.5 million to take him to the Premier League. The English game didn’t suit him too well, and he spent the 2020/21 season on loan with Paris Saint-Germain, before returning to Juventus the following summer. It was also a loan deal at first, and it was only made permanent ahead of this season.
Romano hasn’t made clear whether Atletico will have the option to buy at the end of the season, but with Kean’s contract with Juventus entering its final 12 months, it would arguably make sense to start making arrangements for his permanent departure from the Allianz Stadium.
