AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri wants to build momentum against Cesena for their big match against Juventus next week.
Fresh from beating Arsenal 4-0 at the San Siro on Wednesday, Milan travel to Cesena on Sunday looking to build on their one point lead over Juventus on the Serie A table.
And with a clash against their title rivals coming up next week, Allegri wants his side to continue building momentum.
“(Sunday’s) match is very important for the championship and anticipates the direct match against Juventus, therefore we shouldn’t make mistakes,” Allegri said.
“We’ll be facing a team with a good tactical organization. In the forward department they have high level players, such as Adrian Mutu and Vincenzo Iaquinta.”
“We should play concentrated otherwise we’ll be facing big problems. We’ll be playing on a synthetic pitch, which is different than Novara’s pitch and we’ll be playing against a team, which usually creates many difficulties in the home matches.”
Milan’s busy schedule has left Allegri with several injury concerns, but the coach was not worried about the options at his disposal.
“Alessandro Nesta has some problems with his knee, therefore we hope to get him back, but he will be available for the match against Juventus,” he said.
“Alexandre Pato has had a muscle injury, therefore I’d prefer not to risk him in the match against Cesena.”
“The same goes for Kevin Prince Boateng: he has had a muscle injury after an intense match.”
“Yesterday he trained, but he left 10 minutes before the end. We’re evaluating the situation, but we were aware such events could happen, since we had to shorten the recovery time.”
“I have some doubts between Djamel Mesbah and Luca Antonini. It is more likely that Mesbah will be playing, even if Antonini has made a good performance on Wednesday. Between Massimo Ambrosini and Mark Van Bommel, it is more likely that Ambrosini will be playing.”
