Monaco agree Elderson deal

O Jogo has learned that Monaco are set to complete the signing of Nigerian defender Elderson Uwa Echiejile from Sporting Braga.

The Principality club have been looking to recruit a new left-sided defender to provide competition for Layvin Kurzawa, and they seem to have succeeded in their quest.

According to O Jogo, Monaco have reached an agreement with Sporting Braga to sign defender Elderson, who is set for a medical at Stade Louis II.

Given that the player’s contract was due to expire in June 2014, he will be joining the French side for a nominal fee.

Elderson joined Sporting Braga from Rennes in the summer of 2010 and has since made a total of 73 Primeira Liga appearances for the club, scoring 5 goals in the process.

He has also become an important member of the national team and went on to start all 6 matches as Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
