Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim has moved to confirm reports linking the French giants with moves for Nicolas Gaitan and Eduardo Salvio.
The former Sporting Lisbon boss had a great opportunity to make a check on the two targets as Monaco hosted Benfica in a Champions League clash yesterday evening, with the match ending in goalless draw.
Speaking after the game, Jardim has all but confirmed that Gaitan and Salvio are on his wish list, hinting that a January bid may be on the horizon.
“Gaitan and Salvio are quality players,” the Portuguese coach told Sport TV following the match.
“We are focused on our players, we changed the initial strategy and we are now focused on increasing the value of young footballers.
”It is with them that we count until January. Then we’ll see.”
It is no secret that Benfica stars will be allowed to leave if a good offer arrives, and Gaitan appears closer to Estadio da Luz exit considering that his contract is due to expire in less than two years.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Salvio is being linked with a January move to AC Milan, with the Rossoneri having reportedly secured a first option on the forward.
