Monaco close in on French hotshot

French newspaper Le 10 Sport is reporting that Monaco are set to sign Valenciennes defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin.

The French giants have just announced the signing of Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid, who joins his former Porto teammates Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, the Principality club are set to announce their fourth signing of the transfer window, with Nicolas Isimat-Mirin currently undergoing medical ahead of his move to Stade Louis II.

Marseille were also keen on the highly rated defender, but it appears Monaco’s offer of €4 million gave them the upper hand over their rivals.

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin came through the youth ranks at Valenciennes and has so far made 73 Ligue 1 appearances and scored one goal in the process.

The 21-year-old, who was recently handed his France Under-21 debut, has largely impressed this season and is predicted a bright future in the game.
