AS Monaco are close to signing Claudio Marchisio, according to Marca.
The 33-year-old midfielder spent last season with Zenit St Petersburg. Before that, he was a Juventus player for 13 years, making 389 appearances and scoring 37 goals in all competitions for the Serie A champions. As he is a free agent at the moment, he is able to join a club on a free transfer at any moment, regardless of transfer windows.
Monaco have already made 10 new additions to the squad this summer, and Marchisio would be the final touch for the project coach Leonardo Jardim is overseeing. His most expensive signings in the window that has just closed are striker Wissam Ben Yeder from Sevilla for €40 million, and winger Gelson Martins from Atletico Madrid, who already spent the second half of 2018/19 on loan at Monaco, for €30 million.
The Ligue 1 side have apparently already reached an agreement with Marchisio, and he is set to sign a one-season contract with an option on further 12 months.
