France Football understands that Monaco are stepping up their efforts to sign Gianelli Imbula from Stoke City.
The Principality club are prepared to offer the Frenchman an escape route from Britannia Stadium, and they have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old footballer.
Monaco are now trying to agree a deal with Stoke City and they hope to sign the midfielder on loan with an option to buy.
The Ligue 1 champions plan to include a buy-out clause in the region of €15m-€20m, but the Potters are reportedly asking for more money for the player they paid €24 million.
Imbilla has since failed to impress in English Premier League, making 26 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
But, having impressed playing for Guingamp and Marseille in Ligue 1, Monaco officials clearly believe he would be a good addition to the squad at Stade Louis II.
