French giants Monaco are showing interest in Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, L’Equipe has suggested.
It is no secret that the Principality club plan to recruit a new shot-stopper seeing that they are not too happy with current number one Danijel Subasic.
And it appears that Monaco will be shopping in France, having earlier been linked with Marseille captain Steve Mandanda and now reportedly hot on the trail of Lyon’s Anthony Lopes.
It is believed that super agent Jorge Mendes will attempt to persuade the Portuguese keeper to move to Stade Louis II, although much could depend on the outcome of the Lyon vs Monaco match this weekend, where les Gones have been made 5/6 favourites.
Namely, the two sides are currently level on points in the Ligue 1 standings and the winner is almost certain to secure second-place finish and automatic Champions League berth, whereas the loser will be in danger of missing out on top 3 positions altogether.
This means that Saturday’s game could also be a battle for the future of Anthony Lopes, who has so far made 110 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon.
