L’Equipe is reporting that Monaco are hot on the trail of Lille centre-back Simon Kjaer as they look to reinforce their back line in the summer.
The Principality club are in need of defensive reinforcements seeing as how Eric Abidal and Ricardo Carvalho are not getting any younger and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin is being linked with a summer exit.
Monaco have been keeping close tabs on Benfica hotshot Ezequiel Garay, but with the Argentine nearing a switch to Bayern Munich, they seem to have turned their attention to Simon Kjaer.
The 25-year-old has kick-started his career at Grand Stade Lille Metropole following somewhat disappointing spells with Roma and Wolfsburg, having been a key part of league’s second-best defence that only allowed 26 goals in 38 matches.
Even if Kjaer has three years left on his current deal, L’Equipe reports that the two sides have already established initial contacts, meaning the Denmark international could be making a switch to the Principality in the coming weeks.
