France Football is reporting that Monaco are set to launch an assault on Toulouse stopper Aymen Abdennour.
With starting centre-backs Ricardo Carvalho and Eric Abidal in the closing stages of their careers, the Principality club are looking to add some fresh blood to their back line.
After scouting a host of players, Monaco reportedly decided to make Toulouse defender Aymen Abdennour their number one target.
France Football understands that the French giants are set to submit an official proposal for the player’s services as they hope to add the 24-year-old to their ranks by the end of the January transfer window.
Should Toulouse opt against selling the Tunisian midway through the season, Monaco will make a fresh assault next summer.
Abdennour has spent last two and a half years with le Tefece and he is widely regarded as one of league’s top centre-backs.
The Tunisia international has so far made 77 Ligue 1 appearances for the club and scored 3 goals.
