French giants Monaco are hot on the trail of Real Zaragoza midfielder Sergio Gil, L’Equipe can reveal.
The talented footballer has seen his contract with the Spanish club expire yesterday and everything suggests he will be leaving his current employers in the near future.
Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have emerged as favourites for his signature as they aim to reinforce the midfield department after allowing Jeremy Toulalan to join Bordeaux.
Sergio Gil Latorre is also on the radar of Barcelona and Villarreal, who want him to join their B squads.
The 20-year-old footballer has shown a great deal of potential since coming through the youth ranks at Real Zaragoza, making a total of 20 league appearances.
And despite failing to establish himself as a first team regular, Gil appears to have done enough to catch the eye of top European clubs, although he would probably be better off staying with Zaragoza for a couple more years.
