Monaco keen on Sporting starlet

French giants Monaco look set to continue the summer recruitment as they are stepping up their efforts to sign Carlos Mane from Sporting Lisbon, A Bola can reveal.

Former Lions coach Leonardo Jardim seems determined to lure the youngster to Stadio Louis II this summer, although the Portugal Under-21 star will not be coming on the cheap.

Monaco’s initial €9 million bid was rejected by the Portuguese side, but the Principality club are ready to come forward with an improved proposal.

The French side officials have scheduled a new meeting with their Sporting counterparts for next week, when they will attempt to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

Carlos Mane, 21, is one of the hottest prospects to have come out of club’s youth academy in recent years, but it looks as though he could be leaving as early as this summer.

The talented winger was in excellent form last season, scoring 6 goals and setting up another 4 in 29 Primeira Liga matches.
