French champions AS Monaco have emerged as favourites to sign Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho from Sporting CP.
The highly rated footballer seemed to be on the verge of joining West Ham United, but the two clubs eventually failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.
And latest reports suggest that AS Monaco are close to securing the player’s signature having offered €35 million up front plus another €6 million in bonuses.
The Principality Club see Carvalho as a great replacement for wantaway midfielder Fabinho, but the deal does depend on the Brazilian leaving the club.
Having impressed playing for club and country over the last few years, William Carvalho finally looks set to join a top European club, although there is still time for other interested sides to challenge Monaco for his signature.
