Manchester City target Victor Valdes appears to be edging ever closer to a summer move to Monaco, the Mail Online understands.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been linked with a move for a new number one following England international Joe Hart’s recent loss of form, but may need to look elsewhere as Valdes closes in on a switch to the mega rich Ligue One side.
The 31 year old, who has won countless honours at club and international level, is set to end his eighteen year spell with Barcelona at the end of the season as he seeks a new challenge.
He is set to win only his nineteenth cap for Spain in tomorrow’s friendly with Equatorial Guinea with Iker Casillas currently out of Real Madrid’s starting XI.
Valdes has kept four clean sheets in eight international appearances this calendar year as he looks to secure the number one jersey at next summer’s World Cup finals.
