French daily newspaper L’Equipe has suggested that Monaco are stepping up their efforts to sign Belgian defender Vincent Kompany from Manchester City.
It is no secret the Principality club are looking to sign a high-profile defender and they seem set to test Manchester City’s resolve with a January bid for Kompany.
The Citizens are obviously not keen on selling their prized asset, but it is believed they would not be able to resist a big money offer.
According to L’Equipe, Kompany could be available for €22 million, which is well within Monaco’s price range.
However, the French giants will have to find a way to match the defender’s €8 million yearly wage provided they can reach an agreement with his employers.
Manchester City have suffered a new slip-up in the league as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton, but they remain 7/4 favourites for the Premiership trophy.
