Monaco pull out of race to sign Cole

Monaco have turned down the chance to sign Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole this summer, according to TalkSport.

The big-spending Ligue One side were one of a number linked with a move for the 33 year old, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to agree a new deal with the Blues.

Cole announced his retirement from international football after being omitted from Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, though he still believes he can compete at the highest level.

Premier League duo Manchester City and Liverpool, and European Champions Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for the former Arsenal man, who has racked up 385 top-flight appearances in his career.

Cole has won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, the League Cup and a record seven FA Cups in his career so far.
