French media outlet Nice-Matin understands that Monaco are set to complete a deal for Italian goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis.
The Principality club initially planned to sign Diego Benaglio to challenge Danijel Subasic for a starting berth, but the Swiss shot-stopper eventually turned down the offer.
Monaco have since managed to secure the services of Italian veteran Morgan De Sanctis, who is expected to sign a contract on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old arrives at Stade Louis II as a free agent with his contract at AS Roma having expired two weeks ago.
De Sanctis had joined Roma after four successful seasons with Napoli, and he went on to make 75 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi.
However, he mostly played second fiddle to Wojciech Szczesny last term, featuring in just four league games, and it remains to be seen whether he can replace Danijel Subasic as Monaco’s number one.
