Monaco have confirmed that they’ve completed the signing of Chelsea youngster Jonathan Panzo. The 17-year-old may not be a household name just yet, but there’s a reason why the French club were so keen on trying to land his signature. Michael Emenalo, who is the club’s technical director, spotted Panzo’s talent during his seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge – and he wanted to ensure that he was able to bring him over to France with him.
Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig have all expressed their interest in signing him in the past, with Valencia even throwing their name in the hat. Now, however, Monaco have a young and hungry defender that they can build up to eventually take his place in the first team.
The club finished in 2nd place last season in Ligue 1 behind Paris Saint-Germain, although despite PSG’s perceived domination, Monaco only finished seven points off the pace.
