Monaco still want Matuidi

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Monaco are weighing up the possibility of a move for Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi. The same has been true for a couple of weeks now, with the Ligue 1 side desperately attempting to bolster their squad in an attempt to dethrone Paris Saint-Germain from the top of the league table.

In addition to that, Monaco quite clearly want to return to the heights they were once at in the UEFA Champions League. The 2004 runners-up haven’t quite been able to push the bigger sides all the way in the last decade or so, and while they had a brief period of joy a few years back, they’re still quite far off from where they want to be.

As for Matuidi, it really does seem like a move for Juve is going to be the next best step for his career after falling down the pecking order with the Italian champions.
