French daily newspaper L’Equipe has suggested that Monaco are hot on the trail Lyon youngster Jordy Gaspar.
The 20-year-old was recently regarded as one of club’s hottest prospects, but while Diakhaby, Tousart and Cornet have played important roles in the senior side this season, the right-sided defender was never given a chance to shine.
After making just three competitive appearances this season, the youngster is highly unlikely to sign his first professional contract at Parc OL, and that is something league rivals Monaco are hoping to exploit.
The Principality club believe Gaspar has the potential to develop into a high-quality footballer, and they plan to offer him a long-term contract in the coming weeks.
Considering that the full-back is currently on a youth contract at Lyon, Monaco can sign him for a nominal fee and continue the trend of recruiting talented footballers for bargain prices.
