According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal and Real Sociedad are still in talks over a potential deal for defender Nacho Monreal. It is believed that an official deal has not yet been struck, but he has agreed to a two year contract with the Spanish club. While that may sound a little bit unusual, it isn’t uncommon for different parts of a transfer like this to be done at different times.
Monreal hasn’t really been able to break out and thrive in Arsenal’s first team in the kind of manner that he would’ve initially anticipated, and now, it looks like it’s time for him to move on to pastures new. Sociedad are seemingly more than willing to offer him a featured spot in their starting XI, but it’s going to be interesting to see whether or not that happens gradually or whether he is thrust straight into the team.
Before all of that, though, they need to get an official deal over the finish line.
